Privacy policy
Last updated: 2026
The short version
We don't ask you for any personal data. The converter and calculators run entirely in your browser — your input values never reach our server. However, this site uses Google Analytics, Google AdSense, and Adsterra, and those third parties collect data about your visit (including identifiers like cookies and your IP address) under their own privacy policies. You can opt out of advertising cookies and exercise your privacy rights as described below.
Who runs this site
This site is operated by the team at unitcheatsheet.com. For privacy questions, contact contactus@unitcheatsheet.com. For data held by third-party services (Google, Adsterra), contact them directly — see "How to exercise your rights" below.
What WE collect directly
- Nothing personal. We don't run a server-side application that stores user data. We don't have user accounts. We don't have an email list. We don't have contact forms that save anything.
- The values you type into the converter or calculators. These never leave your browser — the math runs in JavaScript on your device.
- Server logs. Our static hosting provider keeps standard request logs (URL, IP, user agent, timestamp) for security and operational reasons, as any web host does. We don't query those logs for marketing or profiling.
- One local-storage value for your theme preference (light/dark). It's stored on your device, not sent to us.
What THIRD PARTIES collect
This site loads scripts from third-party services that collect data about your visit. Under GDPR and most US state privacy laws, this counts as personal data even though we never see it directly.
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics to count visits and understand which pages are useful. Google Analytics collects: your IP address, a cookie identifier, device and browser info, approximate location (derived from IP), language, and pages viewed. Google acts as our data processor; we don't send personally identifying information to Google Analytics, but the identifiers Google uses are still classified as personal data under GDPR. See Google's privacy policy and how Google Analytics safeguards data. You can opt out site-wide using the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Google AdSense
We use AdSense to display ads. AdSense uses cookies and device identifiers to serve ads (which may be personalized based on your prior visits to this and other sites). Google is an independent data controller for AdSense data. See how Google uses data when you visit a partner's site or app. You can opt out of personalized advertising at Google Ads Settings and the EU/UK equivalent at Your Online Choices (or YourAdChoices for the US).
Adsterra
We use Adsterra as an additional advertising network. Adsterra and its advertising partners use cookies and similar technologies to serve and measure ads. See Adsterra's privacy policy for details and opt-out mechanisms. Adsterra also acts as an independent data controller for the data it collects.
Google Fonts
We load typefaces from Google Fonts. Google sees a request from your browser when you load the site (IP, user agent). We don't send extra information.
Cookies and similar technologies
This site uses or causes to be used:
- One first-party local-storage entry for your theme preference. No tracking.
- Google Analytics cookies (
_ga,_ga_*) to identify unique visits and sessions. - Google AdSense cookies (including
__gads,__gpi,IDE) to serve and measure ads. May be personalized. - Adsterra cookies set by the advertising network to deliver and measure ads.
For visitors from the EU/EEA, UK, and Switzerland, we show a consent banner on first visit and load no non-essential cookies until you make a choice. For all visitors, you can re-open the consent dialog at any time using the Cookie settings link in the footer. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, we treat that as an automatic opt-out.
Your rights (GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and similar)
Privacy laws give you rights over data collected about you. Because we hold almost no personal data directly, most of these rights are exercised against the third parties listed above — but here they are:
If you're in the EU, EEA, UK, or Switzerland (GDPR / UK GDPR)
- Right of access. Ask what personal data is held about you.
- Right to rectification. Ask for incorrect data to be corrected.
- Right to erasure ("right to be forgotten"). Ask for your data to be deleted.
- Right to restrict processing. Ask that your data be held but not used.
- Right to data portability. Receive your data in a machine-readable format.
- Right to object. Object to processing based on legitimate interests, including for direct marketing.
- Right to withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent. Withdrawal doesn't affect lawfulness of prior processing.
- Right not to be subject to automated decision-making with legal or similarly significant effects (we don't do this).
- Right to lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority. A list is at edpb.europa.eu.
If you're a California resident (CCPA / CPRA)
- Right to know what categories and specific pieces of personal information have been collected about you, the sources, purposes, and to whom it has been disclosed.
- Right to delete personal information collected about you (subject to legal exceptions).
- Right to correct inaccurate personal information.
- Right to opt out of sale or sharing. Because we serve personalized ads through AdSense and Adsterra, the cookie data shared with those networks for cross-context behavioral advertising is treated as "sharing" under CPRA. To opt out, email us at contactus@unitcheatsheet.com with subject "Do Not Sell or Share", use the opt-out links provided for Google and Adsterra in the sections above, or use a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal in your browser, which we honor as a valid opt-out under CPRA.
- Right to limit use of sensitive personal information (we don't intentionally collect any).
- Right to non-discrimination. We won't deny service, charge a different price, or provide a different level of quality because you exercised a privacy right.
- Right to authorize an agent to make requests on your behalf.
Other jurisdictions
If you're in another US state with a comprehensive privacy law (including Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Oregon, Montana, and others), in Brazil (LGPD), Canada (PIPEDA), Australia, or anywhere else with similar legislation, equivalent rights generally apply. Contact us using the address below and we'll handle your request consistent with applicable law.
How to exercise your rights
- For data held by us directly (almost nothing): email contactus@unitcheatsheet.com. We'll respond within 30 days. We may ask you to verify your identity to prevent fraudulent requests.
- For data held by Google (Analytics, AdSense, Fonts): use your Google account privacy controls, or contact Google directly. You can also opt out of personalized ads at Google Ads Settings.
- For data held by Adsterra: see Adsterra's privacy policy for their contact and opt-out details.
- To opt out of cookies on this site: use the Cookie settings link in the footer to re-open the consent dialog at any time. You can also use your browser's cookie controls to delete cookies for unitcheatsheet.com and the third-party domains listed above, or use a browser extension that blocks tracking cookies.
Legal bases for processing (GDPR Article 6)
- Consent — for non-essential cookies (Google Analytics, AdSense, Adsterra). You may withdraw consent at any time.
- Legitimate interests — for keeping the site online and secure (server logs, basic anti-abuse measures), where those interests don't override your rights and freedoms.
Data retention
- Hosting server logs: typically 30–90 days, then deleted by the host.
- Google Analytics: per Google's policy, configurable. We use a 14-month retention window.
- Google AdSense / Adsterra: per their respective policies, which we don't control.
- Email correspondence with us: retained only as long as needed to handle your question.
International transfers
Google and Adsterra operate globally. Personal data collected by them may be transferred to and stored in the United States and other jurisdictions. Those transfers are governed by the third parties' own safeguards (such as the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, Standard Contractual Clauses, or equivalent mechanisms). See their privacy policies for details.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 16. We don't knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided personal data to us, contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we update this policy materially, we'll change the "Last updated" date at the top and, where required by law, give notice through the site. Continued use of the site after a change indicates acceptance of the updated policy.
